Comments:
"I
am interested in materials and how they react to paint.
Much of my work is based on experiments with different materials such
as electrical tape (Portrait Blue) or man made fabrics (20 Squares).
I start a piece with nothing in mind apart from harmonising the elements
I have chosen to use and producing a piece of work which exists as a
record of my experiments.
Colours develop from the tones of the materials. Sometimes the materials
denote the colour of the piece, but I usually employ colours in an expressionist
way using the material to give depth and tone.
I am also interested in grid systems and working outside of them. Using
man made fabrics and old clothes give me the constraints that I try
to break."
